(WO2016154314) 39. A recombinant microorganism comprising at least one nucleic acid construct comprising: (a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a farnesyl diphosphate synthase enzyme; (b) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase enzyme; (c) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase enzyme modified to decrease lycopene cyclase activity; (d) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a phytoene dehydrogenase enzyme; (e) a nucleic acid sequence encoding an enzyme selected from lycopene .epsilon.-cyclase and lycopene .beta.-cyclase; and (f) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase enzyme; wherein the nucleic acid sequences are operably linked to one or more expression control sequences.  43. A recombinant microorganism comprising at least one nucleic acid construct comprising: (a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a nucleic acid an acetyl-coA acetyltransferase enzyme; (b) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a HMG-CoA reductase enzyme; (c) a nucleic acid sequence encoding an isopentenyl diphosphate isomerase; (d) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a geranyl pyrophosphate synthase enzyme; (e) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a farnesyl diphosphate synthase enzyme; (f) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase enzyme; (g) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase enzyme modified to decrease lycopene cyclase activity; (h) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a phytoene dehydrogenase enzyme; (i) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene .epsilon.-cyclase enzyme; and (j) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase enzyme; wherein the nucleic acid sequences are operably linked to one or more expression control sequences.  46. A recombinant microorganism comprising at least one nucleic acid construct comprising: (a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding an acetyl-coA acetyltransferase enzyme; (b) a nucleic acid sequence encoding an HMG-CoA reductase enzyme; (c) a nucleic acid sequence encoding an isopentenyl diphosphate isomerase; (d) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a geranyl pyrophosphate synthase enzyme; (e) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a farnesyl diphosphate synthase enzyme; (f) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase enzyme; (g) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase enzyme; (h) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a phytoene dehydrogenase enzyme; and (j) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase enzyme; wherein the nucleic acid sequences are operably linked to one or more expression control sequences.  49. A recombinant microorganism comprising at least one nucleic acid construct comprising: (a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a fusion protein comprising a farnesyl diphosphate synthase enzyme fused in frame with a geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase enzyme; (b) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase enzyme modified to decrease lycopene cyclase activity; (c) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a phytoene dehydrogenase enzyme; and (d) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene .epsilon.-cyclase enzyme; wherein the nucleic acid sequences are operably linked to one or more expression control sequences; wherein the farnesyl diphosphate synthase and geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase enzymes are from Yarrowia lipolytica, the lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase and phytoene dehydrogenase enzymes are from Mucor circinelloides, and the lycopene .epsilon.-cyclase enzyme is from Lactuca sativa; and wherein one or more of the enzymes are overexpressed in the microorganism by operably linking the at least one nucleic acid sequence to an intron-containing transcriptional elongation factor TEF promoter (TEFIN).  55. A recombinant microorganism comprising at least one nucleic acid construct comprising: (a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a fusion protein comprising a farnesyl diphosphate synthase enzyme fused in frame with a geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase enzyme; (b) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase enzyme; and (c) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a phytoene dehydrogenase enzyme; wherein the nucleic acid sequences are operably linked to one or more expression control sequences; wherein the farnesyl diphosphate synthase and geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase enzymes are from Yarrowia lipolytica, and the lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase and phytoene dehydrogenase enzymes are from Mucor circinelloides; and wherein one or more of the enzymes are overexpressed in the microorganism by operably linking the at least one nucleic acid sequence to an intron-containing transcriptional elongation factor TEF promoter (TEFIN).  62. A recombinant microorganism comprising at least one nucleic acid construct comprising: (a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase enzyme modified to decrease lycopene cyclase activity; and (b) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a phytoene dehydrogenase enzyme; wherein the nucleic acid sequences are operably linked to one or more expression control sequences.  74. A nucleic acid expression construct comprising: (a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a lycopene cyclase enzyme selected from lycopene .epsilon.-cyclase and lycopene .beta.-cyclase; and (b) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase enzyme; wherein the nucleic acid sequences are operably linked to one or more expression control sequences.
