摘要
A state judge has approved a $120 million settlement with Southern California Gas over the 2015-16 Aliso Canyon storage blow-out-but some of the parties involved say the agreement doesn't pass the smell test.Among the terms,SoCalGas will pay $64.8 million to Los Angeles County, with $25 million of that going to fund a three-year health study on the long-and short-term effects of exposure to methane, benzene and other gases that were released.Another $26.5 million will fund a methane-capture program at dairy farms in the San Joaquin Valley so SoCalGas can collect the gas and use it to generate power or to fuel vehicles. That part of the plan has opponents crying foul.A coalition of greens has decried the”poop to power”plan, saying SoCalGas will get credit for projects that are already partially funded by state money to capture methane from dairy farms in California's farm belt-more than 100 miles from the Aliso Canyon field.
