(EP3187494) The present application relates to a process for the preparation of pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate.  This process can comprise: a) heating pantoprazole sodium to a temperature of at least 30°C, preferably at least 35°C, the pantoprazole sodium being at least partially present in solid form; b) adding water to the pantoprazole sodium of step a) under agitation to obtain a mixture comprising solid pantoprazole sodium and water; c) drying the mixture comprising solid pantoprazole sodium and water under agitation; and d) recovering pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate.
