(US5089046) What is claimed is: 1.  A compound having the formula Ia  (Chemical Structure image '23' not included in text)  wherein one of X1, X2 represents CR1 'R2 ' and the other represents  (Chemical Structure image '24' not included in text)  R1, R1 ', R2, R2 ', R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen, C1-8 alkyl, C1-8 alkoxy, C1-8 alkylthio or COOR16 and R4 may additionally represent hydroxy; R5 is C1-8 alkyl, optionally substituted with one to six halogen atoms;  C1-8 alkoxy, optionally substituted with one to six halogen atoms;  --(O)n S(O)n 'R12 ;  --NR15 SO2 R12 ;  halogen;  cyano;  or nitro; each of R6 and R7 is independently hydrogen or selected from the values of R5 ;  with the proviso that at least one of R5, R6 and R7 is a group --OSO2 R12 or --NR15 SO2 R12 ; R8 is hydrogen or a salt forming moiety; R12 is C1-8 alkyl, optionally substituted with one to six halogen atoms;  or phenyl optionally substituted with one to three members selected from C1-8 alkyl, C1-8 alkylcarbonyl, C1-8 alkoxycarbonyl, C1-8 alkylsulfonyl, C(O)NR13 R14, P(O)(OR11 '')2 and R13 P(O)OR11 ''; R11, R11 '', R13, R14, R15 and R16 are independently hydrogen or C1-8 alkyl; n is 0 or 1; n'is 0, 1 or 2; q is 0 or 1. 13. A method for the control of weeds or acari which comprises applying to the weed or the acari or their locus an herbicidally or acaricidally effective amount of a compound according to claim 1. 2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein X1 is CR1 'R2 '; X2 is  (Chemical Structure image '25' not included in text)  each of R1, R1 ', R2, R2 ', R3 and R4 is independently hydrogen, C1-8 alkyl or COOR16 ; R5 is C1-8 alkyl, optionally substituted with one to six halogen atoms;  C1-8 alkoxy;  optionally substituted with one to six halogen atoms;  On S(O)n 'R12 ;  NR15 SO2 R12 ;  halogen;  cyano;  or nitro; each of R6 and R7 is independently hydrogen or selected from the values of R5 ;  with the proviso that at least one of R5, R6 and R7 is the group OSO2 R12 or NR15 SO2 R12 ; R8 is hydrogen; R12 is C1-8 alkyl, optionally substituted with one to six halogen atoms; each of R13, R14, R15 and R16 is independently, hydrogen, or C1-8 alkyl; n is zero or one; n' is zero, one or two;  and q is zero or one. 3. A compound according to claim 1 wherein X1 is CR1 'R2 '; X2 is  (Chemical Structure image '26' not included in text)  R1, R1 ', R2, R2 ', R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen, C1-8 alkyl, C1-8 alkoxy,C1-8 alkylthio, or COOR16 ; R5 is C1-8 alkyl, optionally substituted with one to six halogen atoms;  C1-8 alkoxy, optionally substituted with one to six halogen atoms;  (O)n S(O)n 'R12 ;  --NR15 SO2 R12 ;  halogen;  cyano;  or nitro; each of R6 and R7 is independently hydrogen or selected from the values of R5 ;  with the proviso that at least one of R5, R6 and R7 is a group --OSO2 R12 or --NR15 SO2 R12 ; R8 is hydrogen or a salt forming moiety; R12, R15 and R16, n, n' are as previously defined;  and q is 0 or 1. 4. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R1, R1 ', R2, R2 ', R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl; R5 is --(O)n S(O)n 'C1-4 alkyl, halogen, nitro or C1-4 alkyl optionally substituted by halogen; R6 is hydrogen, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy, C1-3 alkylsulfonyloxy, bromo or chloro; R7 is bromo, chloro, OSO2 C1-4 alkyl, OSO2 C1-4 haloalkyl, OSO2 phenyl or NR15 SO2 C1-4 alkyl; R15 is hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl; q is 1; n' is 0 or 2. 5. A compound according to claim 4 wherein R6 is in the 3-position and R7 is in the 4-position. 6. A compound according to claim 5 wherein R1, R1 ', R2, R2 ', R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen or C1-3 alkyl; R5 is methyl, CF3, C1-3 alkylsulfonyl, C1-3 alkylsulfonyloxy, chloro, bromo or nitro; R6 is hydrogen, methoxy, methylsulfonyloxy or chloro; R7 is chloro, OSO2 phenyl or C1-3 alkylsulfonyloxy;  and R15 is hydrogen. 7. A compound according to claim 5 wherein R5 is nitro; R6 is hydrogen;  and R7 is C1-2 alkylsulfonyloxy. 8. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R8 is hydrogen. 9. A compound according to claim 6 wherein R8 is hydrogen. 10. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen X1 and X2 are CH2 ; R5 is nitro or halogen; R6 is hydrogen; R7 is in 4-position and represents C1-3 alkylsulfonyloxy. 11. A compound according to claim 1 which is selected from 2-(4-methylsulfonyloxy-2-nitrobenzoyl)-1,3-cyclohexanedione; 2-(4-methylsulfonyloxy-2-nitrobenzoyl)-4,4,6,6-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione;  and 2-(4-methylsulfonyloxy-2-nitrobenzoyl)-4,4,6-trimethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione 12.  An agricultural composition comprising an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1 together with an agriculturally acceptable carrier. 14. A method for selectively controlling weeds in rice which comprises applying to the weeds or their locus a herbicidally effective amount of a compound according to claim 1.
