(WO2016106063) The present invention provides a method for controlling Ceratocystis spp. in a plant and/or reducing losses in harvested crops, the method comprising applying to a plant and/or locus for plant growth an effective amount of at least one biological control agent selected from Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, and metabolites produced therefrom.  The present invention also encompasses the use of a composition comprising at least one biological control agent selected from Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, and metabolites produced therefrom for controlling Ceratocystis spp. in a plant.

(WO2016106063) 1. CLAIMS We claim: 1. A method for controlling Ceratocystis spp. in a plant and/or reducing losses in harvested crops, the method comprising applying to a plant and/or locus for plant growth an effective amount of at least one biological control agent selected from Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, metabolites produced therefrom, and combinations thereof. 2. The method of Claim 1, wherein the Ceratocystis spp. is Ceratocystis paradoxa. 3. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the Bacillus subtilis is Bacillus subtilis QST713 deposited under NRRL Accession No. B-21661 or a mutant thereof. 4. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the Bacillus pumilus is Bacillus pumilus QST2808 deposited under NRRL Accession No. B-30087 or a mutant thereof. 5. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the applying is preceded by identifying that the plant and/or the locus for plant growth needs treatment. 6. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the plant comprises propagation material selected from the group consisting of seedlings, rhizomes, nursery plants, cuttings, and seed. 7. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the plant is selected from the group consisting of sugarcane, pineapple, banana, cacao, coconut, and oil palm. 8. The method according to Claim 7, wherein the plant is sugarcane. 9. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein an effective amount of Bacillus subtilis QST713, Bacillus pumilus QST2808, and/or a mutant thereof is applied to the plant and/or the locus for plant growth prior to planting and/or at planting. 10. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein Bacillus subtilis QST713, Bacillus pumilus QST2808, and/or a mutant thereof is applied to soil. 11. The method according to Claim 10, wherein the Bacillus subtilis QST713, Bacillus pumilus QST2808, and/or mutant thereof is applied at a rate of about 4 x 1011to about 1 x 1013cfu per acre for soil drench treatments or 1 x 1010to about 1 x 1012cfu per 1000 row feet for in furrow treatments. 12. The method according to Claim 11, wherein the rate is about 4 x 1011to about 8 x 1012cfu per acre or about 5 x 1010to about 7.5 x 1011cfu per 1000 row feet. 13. The method according to Claim 10, wherein the Bacillus subtilis QST713, Bacillus pumilus QST2808, and/or mutant thereof is applied to the soil in contact with plant roots or soil at a base of a plant. 14. The method according to Claim 13, wherein the Bacillus subtilis QST713, Bacillus pumilus QST2808, and/or mutant thereof is applied as a single application at a rate of about 1 x 105to about 1 x 107cfu per gram of soil. 15. The method according to Claim 10, wherein the Bacillus subtilis QST713 or mutant thereof is applied in multiple applications at a rate of about 5 x 1011to about 6 x 1013cfu per acre per application for soil drench treatments. 16. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the at least one biological control agent is a fermentation product. 17. The method according to Claim 16, wherein the fermentation product comprises Bacillus subtilis QST713 cells and/or cells of a mutant of Bacillus subtilis QST713, metabolites and residual fermentation broth. 18. The method according to Claim 16, wherein the fermentation product comprises Bacillus pumilus QST2808 cells and/or cells of a mutant of Bacillus pumilus QST2808, metabolites and residual fermentation broth. 19. The method of any one of the preceding claims, wherein applying the at least one biological control agent results in an increased crop yield from the plant. 20. The method of any one of the preceding claims, further comprising applying to the plant and/or locus for plant growth an insecticide and/or a fungicide. 21. The method of Claim 20, wherein the insecticide and/or fungicide are applied sequentially or simultaneously with the Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, and/or metabolites produced therefrom. 22. The method of Claim 20 or 21, wherein the insecticide is selected from the group consisting of chlorpyrifos, clothianidin, cypermethrin, ethiprole, fipronil, fluopyram, imidacloprid, methiocarb, and thiodicarb. 23. A use of a composition comprising at least one biological control agent selected from Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, metabolites produced therefrom, and combinations thereof for controlling Ceratocystis spp. in a plant. 24. The use according to Claim 23, wherein the Ceratocystis spp. is Ceratocystis paradoxa. 25. The use according to Claim 23 or 24, wherein the Bacillus subtilis is Bacillus subtilis QST713 or a mutant thereof. 26. The use according to any one of Claim 23 to 25, wherein the Bacillus pumilus is Bacillus pumilus QST2808 or a mutant thereof.
