(US20200179999) This present invention relates to compositions and methods of microbial enhanced oil recovery using Bacillus subtilis strains. The invention also relates to compositions and methods for performing oil degradation with Bacillus subtilis strains. The compositions and methods of the present invention are also used for enhanced commercial biosurfactant and enzyme production.

(US20200179999) What is claimed: 1. A composition comprising a microbe that is Bacillus subtilus strain B1 having accession number PTA-123459, or a mutant thereof, and/or a growth by-product thereof and, optionally, a carrier. 2. A method for degradation of hydrocarbons from an oil-contaminated site, wherein said method comprises applying to said site a composition of claim 1. 3. A method for cleaning an oil well rod, tubing and/or casing, and comprising applying to the oil well rod, tubing and casing structures a composition of claim 1. 4. A method for improving plant growth and/or health, comprising applying to the plant or its environment a composition of claim 1. 5. The method, according to claim 4, wherein the composition has activity against nematodes. 6. The method, according to claim 4, wherein the composition is applied to pests or weeds. 7. The method, according to claim 4, which further comprises monitoring, after said application, at least one of: the abundance of the composition in the environment to which it has been applied, or movement of the composition through the environment to which it has been applied. 8. A method for controlling unwanted microbial growth, wherein said method comprises applying to the site of unwanted microbial growth a composition of claim 1. 9. The method, according to claim 2, comprising injecting the composition into an oil well, wherein the microbe is grown within 200 miles of the location at which it is injected into the oil well. 10. The method, according to claim 2, comprising injecting the composition into an oil well, wherein the microbe is grown within 1 mile of the location at which it is injected into the oil well.
