摘要
The soft fern or maiden fern, Christella dentata named after Konradd Hermann Heinrich Christ, a Swiss pteridologist botanist who specialized in ferns and dentata from latin ?dens? means lobed pinnae. Specifically, C. dentata leaves' extracts are usedto treat gout and rheumatism. The methanolic extract of T. dentata was subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening and antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria. Christella dentata (Forssk.) Brownsey & Jermy possesses antifungal and antibacterial properties. The presence of antimicrobial activity in a particular part of this particular species may be due to the presence of one or more bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, steroids, saponins etc. The various phytochemical compounds detected are known to have beneficial importance in medicinal sciences.
