摘要
In the present study, synthesis technique of metal powder filled carbon nanotubes is reported. Metal powders such as copper and nickel were used a substrate for growth of nanotubes. The technique adopted for the synthesis was modified arc discharge method using SMAW. Two graphite rod of high pure was used as anode and cathode on same polarity with current capacity of 150A and 20V. During arcing, soot with CNTs and other nanoparticles were deposited on cathode. After physical and chemical purification process, high purity carbon nanotubes can found. The characterization techniques used to reveal the structure of CNTs are XRD and TEM was employed. The synthesized CNTs find application in Energy storage applications such as battery and fuel cell.
