Process for reducing the fouling of a surface O, wherein an aqueous solution S of at least one polymer P comprising styrene and at least one ester E of (meth)acrylic acid and polyethylene oxide in a molar ratio of 0.05:1 to 50:1 is applied to said surface O, wherein said aqueous solution S comprises at least 50 % by weight of water. 2. Process according to claim 1, wherein said surface O is a membrane M. 3. Process according to claim 1 to 2, wherein said at least one ester E has an average molar mass Mn of 300 to 10000 g/mol. 4. Process according to claim 1 to 3, wherein said at least one ester E has an average molar mass Mn of 800 to 3000 g/mol. 5. Process according to claims 1 to 3, wherein said polymer P has an average molar mass Mn of 5000 to 100,000 g/mol. 6. Process according to claims 1 to 5, wherein said polymer P is a statistical copolymer. 7. Process according to claims 1 to 6, wherein said aqueous solution S comprises 0.001 to 1. % by weight of polymer P. 8. Process according to claims 1 to 7, wherein said polymer P has been obtained in a solution polymerization. 9. Process according to claims 8, wherein said polymer P has been obtained in a solution polymerization in a solvent comprising at least 50% by weight based on the solvent of at least one alcohol. 10. Process according to claims 1 to 9, wherein said polymer P is applied to said surface O in intervals of 1 day to 24 months. 11. Process according to claims 2 to 10, wherein said membrane M is a RO, FO, NF, UF or MF membrane. 12. Process according to claims 1 to 11, wherein said process is used in the treatment of in dustrial or municipal waste water, sea water, brackish water, fluvial water, surface water or drinking water, desalination of sea or brackish water, dialysis, plasmolysis or processing of food and beverages. 13. Polymer comprising styrene and at least one ester E of (meth)acrylic acid and polyeth ylene oxide in a molar ratio of 0.3:1 to 15:1, wherein said at least one ester E of (meth)acrylic acid and polyethylene oxide has an average molar mass Mn of 1500 to 10000. G/mol. 14. Polymer according to claim 13, wherein said polymer comprises styrene and at least one ester E in a molar ratio of 0.5:1 to 2:1. 15. Polymer according to claims 13 to 14, wherein said polymer P has an average molar mass Mn of 5000 to 100,000 g/mol. 16. Polymer according to claims 13 to 15, wherein said copolymer is has been obtained by solution polymerization of styrene and ester E. 17. Polymer comprising styrene and at least one ester E of (meth)acrylic acid and polyeth ylene oxide in a molar ratio of 0.05:1 to 50:1 wherein said at least one ester E has an av erage molar mass Mn of 300 to 10000 g/mol and wherein said polymer P has been o b tained by solution polymerization. 18. Polymer according to claim 17, wherein said polymer has been obtained by solution polymerization in a solvent comprising at least 50% by weight based on the solvent of at least one alcohol. 19. Process for making copolymers according to claims 13 to 18, wherein said process comprises a solution polymerization of Styrene and Ester E. 20. Process according to claim 19, wherein said solution polymerization is carried out in a so l vent comprising at least 50% by weight based on the solvent of at least one alcohol. 1. Use of polymers according to claims 13 to 18 for reducing the fouling of membranes. 22. Membrane comprising on the surface a layer of at least one polymer P comprising sty rene and at least one ester E of (meth)acrylic acid and polyethylene oxide in a molar ratio of 0.05:1 to 50:1. 23. Membrane according to claim 22, wherein said layer at least one polymer P is a self-as sembled monolayer.
