(JP2016104072W) This photocatalyst is obtained from a nanostructure configured from multiple semiconductors.  The nanostructure has a Type II band structure.  For each semiconductor, the lower edge of the conduction band is more negative than the reduction potential of water and the upper edge of the valence band is more positive than the oxidation potential of water.
